Grey Croft Stone Circle

An exhibition is being planned around the Grey Croft Stone Circle which is located near Sellafield on the Cumbria coast. in 1949 my grandfather excavated then restored the stone circle with the help of the boys from Pelham House (improved) School and the tenant farmer with a tractor. The artifacts from the excavation, with included a stone axe, and the documentation are now kept at Tullie House in Carlisle and in the records office of Whitehaven Council. The exhibition is focused on the cultural connections and proximity of the stone circle to the British Nuclear Fuels Sellafield Reprocessing Plant, and it is hoped that the archived documents and artefacts will be exhibited. The exhibition is not planned to take place for a couple of years, updates will be posted.
